14 Warning Signs One of Your Employees May be Experiencing Domestic Violence at Home


1. Disruptive visits to the workplace by current or former intimate partner.
2. Unexplained bruises or injuries. Employee is nervous when asked about injuries.
3. Change in job performance, errors, poor concentration.
4. Unexplained absenteeism or tardiness.
5. Disruptive phone calls or e-mails.
6. Sudden change of address or the employee’s reluctance to divulge where she is staying.
7. Employee is the victim of vandalism or threats.
8. Appearance of gifts and flowers after an argument with your employee’s intimate partner.
9. A change in the number of personal phone messages resulting in a high anxiety and a reluctance to converse or respond to phone messages.
10. Your employee minimizes her injuries, bruises or problems at home.
11. Your employee is uncharacteristically moody, depressed or distracted.
12. You notice a change in your employee’s clothing or make-up (to cover injuries.)
